IX webhosting have now migrated my MySQL databases for nztechie.com and nztechie.net on to a new MySql server. They migrated it three hours after the agreed time but I don't see any problems at this stage.
I had no communication from the administrators on the progress of the migration until it was completed. Support agents I spoke to through their chat facility refused to provide or get any status update information for me. By the time I had escalated this to a supervisor the migration was complete.
IX Webhosting also modified my Wordpress and MotionPHP configuration files so they pointed to the new MySQL server rather then the old one. Whether they did this by automatic script or they did this manually I was still quite impressed. This goes beyond what I would expect a straight web hosting company to do.
So in the end, IX Web Hosting are marked down for not keeping the customer informed, and failing to keep to their promised schedule but do make up for this in part by updating my MySQL configuration files. I had thought I would have needed to do this myself.
