Macdonalds Addington in Christchurch

This looks like an expensive sign to incorrectly spell the word "Takeaway" on.

Or is it supposed to be "Take Away"?

The Beginnings of Local Loop Unbundling

On Thursday, Telecom opened up access to its Ponsonby and Glenfield exchanges, as part of its directive in order to allow its competitors access to the copper phone network (i.e the last mile). This is part of a trial in local loop unbundling.

The first ISP's to take advantage of this are Orcon and Ihug. These ISP's have installed their phone and broadband equipment in the two Telecom exchanges as part of a commercial trial. This is the first time that Telecom has opened their exchange to ISP's and wholesale competitors. The trial is due to be expanded to five exchanges.

Telecom has pre-empted the Commerce Commission's rulings and regulation of LLU which is to come into effect later this year. However, Telecom will only be required to unbundle at the rate of 15 exchanges per quarter. Internet Service Providers are calling for this to be doubled or even tripled.

Orcon states it will offer up to 100 Mbit/s Internet, and that it will deploy equipment in every open and available exchange. CallPlus is also anticipating to perform tests in two exchanges, with a full commercial service by the end of the year.

Silverline Pictures Website

So i'm complaining to hayden about how crap my website and that blind people can't read my pull down menus and he says well why don't you post it on the blog, hmm well since bout 1997 i have been trying to decide on a layout for my website but can't seem to get it right, its mostly because i have no creativity or talent to design something good, so for the last 10 years my website has been constantanty under construction, just when it seems like its done and all the features are working i take it down and start a new design. guess its good in one way people would never get bored of the same boring site, but then bad cause people never get to access the content.

Plaxo with Pulse is looking rather bad

I signed-up with the new Plaxo with Pulse service and was immediately disappointed. This aggregation service (which is all it is), failed to correctly import my Windows Live! contact list. Also, in accordance with their well advertised policy on strong privacy, a concerted effort is actually required to share anything with anyone.

Its still in beta, but it is connected to my Blogger Blogs, Myspace, and YouTube site. Unfortunately, Bebo is not on there, but I'm not really too bothered. It looks like the free version is ad-supported by Google adverts. Will let you know how it goes!

Tuesday Already

So its tuesday already, i was gonna goto foodtown about 2 hours ago and doo some shopping but got distracted and ended up posting crap on the blog,

So I notice hayden keeps adding Memeber Contributers yet only one has posted, Also i still don't know the point of this blog which is why i'm posting so much crap to fill space and pass the time, and if anyone is bored enough to read all this then hopefully it won't be a complete waste of time coming here...

400Mhz !!!

So i went into the city today and picked up my new PC at PC Direct, its always fun to get a new computer and they always so fast untill a few weeks go buy and it ends up being a piece of worthless crap cause they brought out the faster cheaper ones by then haha oh well everyone complains about computers so this is nothing exciting :)

BANG!! CRASH!!

Maybe an accident would spice things up, and be like this guy and not be able to drive over the harbour bridge.....

Or maybe the barrier moving guy didn't move the barrier over in time :(

The Not So Superfun Blog

Well this blog is rather boring? don't ya think......

If only it was as exciting as blowing up plastic bottles with dry ice :)

An Auto Attendant gone bad

A few months back, one of our customers had complained that our software had been incorrectly disconnecting users in one of the Auto Attendants we had provided. Hanging-up in 95% of situations is a function of the PABX switch and we mealy interact with the switch to control call flow.

I was tasked with testing the system in an attempt to reproduce the fault. To facilitate this, I created a rather creative Auto Attendant, of which the customer had a DDI terminated on. I went through this Auto Attendant about a couple of hundred times, attempting to catch an abnormal disconnection. I was not able to find one.

The Auto Attendant I created was, well, very creative. It began with "Welcome to the Anisha Fan Club". Press 1 to Order a Pizza, Press 2 to speak to Harpreet Singh etc etc.

Now the real kicker is that today, the customer managed to reprogram their system to replace their normal Auto Attendant with my test Auto Attendant. God knows how long it was active for. The customer did call us in the end, as they recognised my voice on the test recording. Never underestimate your customer!
